About East Prairie School
East Prairie School once stood as a small schoolhouse with less than 100 children in attendance. As the community grew, the original schoolhouse was replaced with a new building in 1956, and subsequent additions were made as the school population increased. The current school opened in 2019 and is a state of the art facility recognized by ENR Magazine as one of the best in the Midwest.
East Prairie School has been rated a Top Elementary and Top Middle School in America by U.S. News and World Report. Niche.com rated our school an “A” rating. We are focused on ensuring every student learns at the highest possible level.
Nearly 550 students are enrolled in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Most students receive grant funded free preschool and all students participate in full day kindergarten. Our students receive academic instruction in the core areas of literacy/language arts, math, science, and social studies. Students receive daily specials which may include art, music, STEAM, and physical education. Students also may participate in band and middle school elective offerings. We aim to ensure every student has the support they need by providing daily acceleration where students who need extra time and support receive intervention while students ready to advance their learning participate in extension activities. The student experience at East Prairie goes beyond the school day allowing for students to participate in after school clubs and athletics.
Our school connects with the greater community to ensure everyone is a part of our efforts to support our students. The Parent Teacher Association and Educational Foundation are tremendously active in supporting our students and staff. Family events happen approximately monthly and result in tremendous turnout and engagement. We also have strong connections with Village of Skokie entities, School District 219 and our other feeder districts, and outside agencies that provide medical, dental, and social-emotional support to our students and families. Our effort to build strong community connections is all for the betterment of our students.
Please reach out to our staff or main office if there is anything we can do to support you or your child.
